The new term of the 'Healthy Aging Workshop', which aims to strengthen intergenerational bonds by bringing together young people and elderly individuals, was inaugurated with a ceremony at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Çavdır Vocational School.
The workshop, implemented under the auspices of Çavdır District Governorship and with contributions from Çavdır Municipality and philanthropic citizens, is supported within the scope of the Ministry of Youth and Sports' University Student Communities Cooperation and Support Program (ÜNİDES).
The opening ceremony was attended by Çavdır District Governor Kübra Nur Taşçı, Mayor Ali Okan Yücel, district protocol, Gölhisar School of Applied Sciences Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Biçer, academicians, students, and elderly residents of the district. The event began with a short introductory video introducing the workshop.
Çavdır MYO Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Öçal, in his opening speech, emphasized the socially responsible structure of the workshop, highlighting that the bond young people will establish with the elderly offers a valuable experience for both parties. Osman Eraslan, one of the district residents who is regularly visited by students at his home, also spoke during the program, pointing out the social interaction needs of elderly individuals and expressing his satisfaction with the value such activities add to their lives.
Following the speeches, the official opening of the workshop was conducted with a prayer. After the ceremony, which was completed in a spiritual atmosphere, participants connected with nature through the 'terrarium making' activity. Young people and elderly individuals enjoyed the pleasure of creating terrariums with their own hands and spending time together.
In another notable activity of the program, 'colors from generation to generation', participants left their handprints on the workshop wall, creating a symbolic token of intergenerational solidarity. Throughout the day, blood pressure measurements and physical exercise applications were also conducted.
The event concluded with a group photo taken to commemorate the day.
